The MonDak Heritage Center will be hosting a Family Science Night from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday May 6th. The Family Science Night is part of Hands-On Health, an interactive health science museum exhibit traveling to Sidney from SpectrUM, a children’s museum in Missoula.

The Family Science Night is free of charge and open to all ages. Sidney Health Center is sponsoring the exhibit’s trip to Richland County.

“Sidney Health Center is excited to partner with the MonDak Heritage Center and bring this interactive health display to area youth,” stated Rick Haraldson, CEO. “It’s a great opportunity to reach out to the community and promote health-related topics to kids in a fun and energetic way. We invite kids and adults of all ages to take part in the Family Science Night.”

The exhibit features a number of interactive stations and activities that include exploring a life-size torso with removable parts, participating in simulated surgery, assembling a full-body x-ray of a professional snowboarder and diagnosing broken bones, swabbing a runny nose and making microscope slides with the sample, dissecting an animal heart or eye, learning proper hand washing technique, assessing vital signs before and after physical activity and seeing how much of a difference twenty pounds of body weight can make.

Hands-On Health is meant to expose youth to health-related careers and encourage them to pursue careers in that field. Field trips have also been scheduled throughout the school day on May 5th and 6th.

This opportunity is particularly unique to the MonDak region because there are no science or children’s museums nearby. The event will give area youth and their families a fun and memorable evening. We hope you will be able to attend.
