Growing from Within: Laboratory Team Members Achieve Certification and Advancement
At Sidney Health Center, growth is happening every day. Recently, Dai Huynh earned his phlebotomy certification, and Chelby Messer and Ayden Vanwhy, who both previously had earned their phlebotomy certifications, advanced into the Lab Assistant role! These are milestones that reflect the hard-work and dedication of our great employees and the organization’s commitment to developing talent from within. These accomplishments highlight how the laboratory continues to serve as a launching point for career advancement across multiple paths. These individuals have each taken different paths into healthcare, building on their experiences and encouraging others to do the same.
For some, like Dai, he was drawn by the ease of accessibility to get started in the laboratory. Through the support of his co-workers, he earned his phlebotomy certification and is continuing a path forward in his healthcare career by pursuing a nursing degree. While focused on school, Dai continues to emphasize a simple but powerful message to others, “don’t be scared.”
Others have found the laboratory to be an ideal entry point into healthcare. Chelby began as a phlebotomist, earned her phlebotomy certification, and recently advanced to the Lab Assistant role, demonstrating how quickly growth can happen with dedication and support. Without needing prior experience or certification to get started, she was able to step into the field and develop her skills along the way. Chelby attributes her success from the strong support provided by her coworkers and leadership throughout her journey. Looking ahead, she is hopeful of continuing to expand her career by entering into a Radiology program.
Similarly, Ayden’s path highlights the opportunity for growth and career progression within the organization. Starting in Environmental Services, he then went on to earn his certification as a phlebotomist in the laboratory and then promoted to Lab Assistant. Also drawn by the accessibility of the role and the chance to try something new, his experience reflects how the laboratory can offer new opportunities, even for those beginning in entirely different departments.
Please take the time to congratulate these individuals on their fantastic achievements!
