Brittany Haug Earns Community Health Worker Certification

Congratulations to Brittany Haug, Patient Experience Specialist, on becoming a Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) through the Montana Office of Rural Health. The certification program includes an instructor-led curriculum that spans approximately eight weeks (85 hours), consisting of six online learning modules and a 25-hour supervised on-the-job experience.

This certification prepares individuals to serve as frontline public health professionals, helping community members navigate health and social services. Training topics include health promotion, cultural competency, communication skills, advocacy, and basic case management. The program equips CHWs to support individuals facing a variety of challenges, including chronic disease management and barriers to accessing vital community resources.

As a Community Health Worker, Brittany plays a key role in bridging the gap between individuals and needed services—assisting with financial concerns, new diagnoses, life transitions, and connection to local and state programs. They offer support with applications for LEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program), Medicaid, SNAP, hospital financial assistance, and housing resources.
