Sidney Health Center is excited to announce the arrival of its first baby of 2026! Scarlett Marie Stubbs was born to proud parents Dawn and Dylan Stubbs of Sidney on January 2 at 9:20 a.m. Scarlett weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and measured 19 inches long. She joins her big brother Scotty.
To celebrate this joyous occasion, the Sidney Health Center Caring Corner Gift Shop and Good Cents Store Volunteers gifted the Stubbs family a basket filled with baby essentials valued at over $235.
While Scarlett is the first baby of the new year, 2025 was an active year for Sidney Health Center's obstetric department. A total of 301 babies were delivered, including 150 boys and 151 girls. On average, 25 babies were born each month, with August being the busiest month with 37 births, followed by October with 29 and September with 28.
Sidney Health Center’s female obstetrician-gynecologists provide comprehensive obstetrical care to women throughout the MonDak region. Services include preconception counseling, genetic screening and diagnosis, and the management of both low- and high-risk pregnancies through delivery and postpartum follow-up care.
The Sidney Health Center Labor and Delivery Unit features Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) rooms equipped with Hill-Rom birthing beds. A variety of pain management options are available during labor, and trained, experienced OB and nursery staff is available 24 hours a day to support patients and their families.
In April 2025, Sidney Health Center celebrated the groundbreaking of its Labor & Delivery Unit renovation, a project made possible in part through support from the Foundation for Community Care. The renovation is focused on creating a modern, family-centered birthing environment while enhancing comfort, privacy, and quality of care. Phase One of the project is anticipated to be completed in February 2026 and will include the completion of four fully equipped LDRP rooms. Once the renovation is complete and all rooms are converted to LDRP rooms, patients will be able to remain in the same room throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care, eliminating the need for room transfers after delivery.
Sidney Health Center’s commitment to families extends beyond childbirth. The obstetric team offers a variety of pre- and post-delivery support services, including:
- One-Day Childbirth Classes: These free classes are designed for expectant parents and cover relaxation techniques, the physiology of childbirth, delivery methods, anesthesia options, breastfeeding, and infant care. Classes are offered four times per year, with the first session of 2026 scheduled for February.
- Nurture Nest Café: Held monthly on the second Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Sidney Health Center OB/GYN Clinic Waiting Room, this drop-in event provides valuable support for families with children from newborn to toddler. A nurse is available to weigh babies and answer questions, offering a resourceful space for breastfeeding support and general parenting advice.
