Sidney Health Center is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Byron Wright to its medical staff. He joins the surgical team as a General Surgeon and will be onsite 7–10 days each month to help meet the growing needs of patients in the MonDak region.
Dr. Wright is a Board-Certified General Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist with more than 20 years of experience specializing in general and acute care surgery, as well as breast and melanoma surgical oncology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Wright received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gonzaga University and his Doctor of Medicine from Chicago Medical School. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his General Surgery residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle before finishing his surgical training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He went on to complete fellowships in Surgical Critical Care, Esophageal Surgery, and Breast/Melanoma Surgical Oncology, including advanced training at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Wright has practiced in Montana, Washington, and California, most recently serving patients at Tri-State Memorial Health in Clarkston, Washington. He also served in the United States Navy as a Staff General Surgeon at Naval Hospital Bremerton and aboard the USS Carl Vinson and USS Abraham Lincoln.
At Sidney Health Center, Dr. Wright will see patients in the clinic and perform a broad range of surgical procedures. General surgeons typically operate on common abdominal complaints including appendicitis, hernias, gallbladder disease, stomach and intestinal issues. In addition, they are trained to perform breast, skin and soft tissue, and endocrine procedures as well as provide trauma, surgical oncology, and critical care services.
Sidney Health Center’s surgical services include general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedic, otolaryngology (ENT), and podiatric procedures. The surgical team collectively performs nearly 3,000 surgeries annually.
