Sidney Health Center and the Foundation for Community Care invite community members to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for Williams Place, a dedicated lodging resource designed to support cancer patients and their families during treatment.
The ribbon cutting will take place on Thursday, June 18, at 4:00 p.m., with an opportunity for the public to tour the condominium, located at 1511 4th Street Southwest in Sidney, until 5:00 p.m.
Williams Place serves as a "home away from home" for cancer patients who travel long distances to receive care at Sidney Health Center's Cancer Care Center. The condominium provides a welcoming place for patients and their loved ones to stay during treatment, helping reduce the physical, emotional, and financial burdens often associated with frequent travel for cancer care.
The original Williams Place was made possible through the generous donation of a condominium by a local family who wanted to support cancer patients in the region. When that property no longer met the needs of patients due to accessibility concerns, Sidney Health Center sold the condo and used the proceeds to purchase a new single-level condominium located closer to the hospital. The name Williams Place was retained in honor of the family whose generosity helped establish this important resource.
“Cancer care extends beyond treatments and appointments—it’s about supporting patients and families throughout their entire journey,” said Jennifer Doty, Chief Executive Officer of Sidney Health Center. “Williams Place provides a welcoming retreat for those traveling to receive care. We are incredibly thankful to the Williams family, whose generosity made this resource possible, and to the Good Cents Store volunteers who thoughtfully added the finishing touches that helped transform the condo into a warm and comforting place for patients and families.”
Designed with patients and families in mind, Williams Place offers fully furnished accommodations, including private bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, workspace amenities, and space for a caregiver or family member. Located near Sidney Health Center’s Cancer Care outpatient suite, the condominium provides a convenient place to stay while reducing the burden of travel during treatment.
Volunteers from Sidney Health Center’s Good Cents Store played an important role in preparing the condominium, carefully selecting furnishings and décor to create a welcoming environment where patients and families can feel supported during their stay.
The project reflects the mission of Sidney Health Center and the Foundation for Community Care to support patients beyond the walls of the facility and provide compassionate care throughout every stage of the healing journey.
