Sidney Health Center Expands Mental and Behavioral Health Services with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
September 3, 2025

Sidney Health Center is proud to recognize Amanda Brown, Mental and Behavioral Health Therapist, who has completed training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Amanda has been serving Sidney Health Center and the surrounding community since 2022 through a partnership with Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC). With this specialized training, she now brings an innovative, research-based therapy to local patients.

Meeting Rural Mental Health Needs

As a resident of rural Montana for more than a decade, Amanda has seen firsthand the challenges that local communities face in accessing mental health care, including barriers such as cost, travel, and availability. When EMCMHC offered ART training as a way to better support rural populations, Amanda embraced the opportunity.

“After experiencing the benefits firsthand and learning about ART’s flexibility, I knew it was a tool that could make a difference for people in our community,” Amanda shared.

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a drug-free, evidence-based treatment that helps reprogram how the brain stores distressing memories, reducing the emotional and physical reactions tied to them. By using eye movements similar to those experienced during dreaming, ART enables patients to keep the facts of their experiences without reliving the painful emotions in the same way.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART does not require patients to disclose extensive details about their trauma or concerns. The approach empowers individuals to remain in control while the therapist serves as a guide. This makes it particularly effective for a wide range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, addictions, and more.

Training in ART

Amanda’s training included a three-day in-person course, live demonstrations, supervised practice sessions, and consultations through the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (IS-ART). This experience connected her to a growing network of ART providers and researchers worldwide.

Bringing ART to Sidney Health Center

Amanda is excited to now offer ART as an additional service at Sidney Health Center. “ART can provide relief as quickly as the first session, which is incredibly valuable for individuals who may not otherwise have immediate access to mental health services in rural Montana,” she explained. “It’s brief, effective, and a helpful adjunct to traditional therapy.”

Patients interested in ART or other behavioral health services at Sidney Health Center can request a referral from their local provider, including Same Day Clinic clinicians. If you have further questions about ART therapy, please reach out to Amanda at 406-488-2041.
