Building a Stronger Beginning for Every Baby
March 3, 2026

In April 2025, Sidney Health Center celebrated the groundbreaking of its Labor & Delivery Unit renovation, a project made possible in part through the Foundation for Community Care. This important investment is focused on creating a modern, family-centered birthing environment that enhances comfort, privacy, and the overall quality of care for mothers and newborns. Phase One of the project is anticipated to be completed in February 2026 and will include the completion of four fully equipped Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms, designed to support families throughout every stage of the birth experience.

Once renovations are complete and all rooms are converted to the LDRP model, families will be able to remain in the same room for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care eliminating the need for room transfers after delivery. Families can expect calm, welcoming birthing suites designed to promote relaxation and bonding, with space for partners and loved ones to remain close. Updated medical technology will enhance safety for both mother and baby, while thoughtfully designed spaces support family involvement, privacy, and comfort allowing parents to focus fully on welcoming their newest addition.

This project is part of a broader $14.6 million investment focused on strengthening women’s health, oncology services, specialty clinics, patient spaces, and critical infrastructure. Sidney Health Center is contributing $9.3 million toward this effort, with the remaining funds raised through the Foundation for Community Care thanks to generous community support and major grant funding. To date, more than $3.5 million has been raised through the generosity of community members and philanthropic partners, including the Helmsley, Murdock, Otto Bremer, and Dayton foundations. Every gift represents a shared commitment to healthy pregnancies, safe deliveries, and strong beginnings for local families.

In 2025, construction and renovations at the Professional Building were completed, allowing the Pediatrics and Outreach Clinics to relocate into the newly renovated space. The updated environment enhances comfort, efficiency, and access to care providing families and children with a welcoming, modern setting while supporting continued organizational growth.

Further strengthening care for families at every stage of life, Sidney Health Center announced in November that it had received a $2.3 million grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to install an in-house Digital PET-CT scanner. This permanent system will replace the mobile unit currently in use and significantly expand access to advanced cancer diagnostics for patients across eastern Montana and western North Dakota, reducing travel and wait times and allowing families to remain closer to home during critical moments.

Together, these projects reflect a commitment to caring for families from welcoming new life to supporting long-term health. Built through community generosity and shared vision, these investments will serve babies born today and generations yet to come, ensuring every family begins their journey supported, close to home, and surrounded by exceptional care.
