1st Annual Light the Park Event
July 29, 2016

Planning is underway for the 1st Annual Light the Park event.  This fundraising event is put on by community volunteers, staff of Sidney Health Center and the Cancer Care Center and the Foundation for Community Care.  The focus of the event is to raise funds keeping the BEST cancer care close to home.  Light the Park is planned for August 11, 2016 at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sidney, Montana starting at 6:00 PM.

Light the Park is an event to help raise money to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones who have been lost, and help to ensure the continuance and quality of cancer care services for our community.  Individuals are encouraged to form a team and participate in Light the Park with a fundraising booth.  The Foundation for Community Care will sell lights that can be purchased in honor or memory of friends and family, for a lighting ceremony to occur at dusk.  Individual teams are encouraged to participate by selling food, items, activities, etc.  Entertainment will be offered on the amphitheater stage in the park throughout the night.

“There is so much interest in the area to have an event where people can help raise funds and make a difference,” stated Gina Heckey, Foundation for Community Care Executive Director.  “Our goal is to make this a family friendly and fun way to raise funds for the cancer services in the area.”

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Sidney Health Center’s Cancer Care Center through the Foundation for Community Care.  The Cancer Care Center provides the latest and most up to date medical equipment and programs.

“Working with the Foundation for Community Care allows us to ensure that 100% of the proceeds raised are available to Sidney Health Center Cancer Care to directly impact the needs of those affected by cancer,” said Kathy Jensen, Manager of the SHC Cancer Care Center.
