Joan Turek is a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) with a lifelong interest in science and helping others. Originally from Bismarck, ND, Joan and her husband Paul have been an integral part of the Sidney community since moving here in 1999.

Joan began her career in healthcare in Fairmont, MN, where she worked in Urgent Care and Family Practice after completing the PA program at Des Moines University in Iowa. Following her move to Montana, she took time off to be with her children during their formative years prior to joining the Montana Migrant and Agricultural Workers Clinic in Fairview. Joan has been with Sidney Health Center since 2021 working in the clinic, seeing patients of all ages.

Joan recently joined the pediatrics team at Sidney Health Center, acknowledging a need in the community for more pediatric providers. She finds great joy in working with children and helping them achieve healthy and active lives. She truly believes in the importance of preventive care and emphasizes the significance of early detection in improving patient outcomes and prolonging lives.

Reflecting on her career, one of Joan's most unforgettable memories was her two-week stint working at a clinic in Guinea, West Africa. In fact, she continues to embrace new experiences. Her love for travel sparked early on as she was an exchange student to Norway.

Outside of work, Joan enjoys reading, crafts and DIY projects as well as exploring the great outdoors kayaking, paddleboarding and walking their Golden Retriever. They have three grown children and continue to be involved with the youth in their church affiliation.
