Visiting Patients at Sidney Health Center
Visitors are very important to a patient’s well-being and we
appreciate the care and support many visitors provide. As a courtesy to
our patients, Sidney Health Center asks that visitors be considerate of
patient privacy and aware that patients need their rest. In addition,
patients may be encouraged to limit their visitors to just a couple at a
time.
Sidney Health Center has OPEN VISITING HOURS; however, there may be
times that visitors are asked to leave the room. Instances may include:
- The patient needs rest.
- The doctor is making rounds or the nurse requests a later visit.
- When you have children with you that display any symptoms of illness.
Out of town visitors may stay at a nearby motel for a discounted
rate. Please ask the social worker to assist you with this added
benefit.
Waiting Areas
There are waiting areas for visitors throughout the hospital.
Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in
the critical care unit, emergency and surgery. There is a phone and TV
in each area.
To make a call from the waiting area telephone, follow these instructions:
- Local calls can be made by pressing “9” and dialing the local number.
- Long distance and toll calls can be made at any time by dialing
9-0 and the number by using a calling card. You may make collect calls
by calling a Sprint Operator, dial 9-1-800-877-8700.
- You may call the hospital operator by dialing 0 at any time for assistance.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food
or drink to patients. Certain gifts, including food, fresh flowers, and
live plants may be prohibited.
- Flowers: The florists deliver flowers daily directly to the
nursing unit. Questions about flowers can be directed to the florist
shop.
- Caring Corner Gift Shop: The gift shop is operated by Sidney
Health Center and staffed by volunteers. It is open weekdays for your
convenience. The shop features an array of gift items including home
décor, baby gifts, jewelry, greeting cards and much more. All proceeds
go towards capital expenditures at Sidney Health Center.
- Balloons: Please note, LATEX balloons are prohibited on our
premises due to serious allergic reactions associated with latex
materials. Mylar balloons are a better alternative, if you wish to
bring a balloon to a patient.

Facility Policies
Cellular Phones
We would like the use of cellular phones to be reserved for use out of
direct patient care areas. Cellular phones may be used in hallways,
waiting rooms and lobby. NO CELLULAR PHONE use in high-risk
areas…laboratory, critical care, emergency or surgery.
Smoking
Sidney
Health Center recently adopted a tobacco-free campus policy. As a
result, tobacco use of any kind is not permitted in and around the
facilities owned by Sidney Health Center. Free tobacco cessation
materials and nicotine replacement therapy products are offered to
inpatients during their stay upon consultation with their physician.
